Real Estate ArticlesUSA to nominate best contractors of 2003
The list of last year's top 400 construction companies was published in the United States of America. For many of them the year 2003 was not significant in terms of immense achievements as the domestic building construction market seemed to be quite mellow.
In general, 400 best construction companies worked over $193 billion, which is 0.5% less than in 2002. Incomes from domestic construction works have recessed by 4.7% - from $179 billion in 2002 to $166 billion in 2003. The year before out-of-the-country contracts helped most of the leading constructions organizations to survive. Gross income from these activities grew by 40% and reached $27 billion. The absolute leading position is still occupied by Bechtel Company like a year before. Its incomes were tripled in 2003 because the company received enormous number of new offers. Bechtel management explained the tendency by its special long-term strategy. The company was coping with new markets and still continued to work with the existing ones. The 400 top companies have a wide range of incomes. 213 companies out of 372 listed increased their profits with 132 in more than 10 times. 158 finished the year with income recessions with 84 of them in about 10 times. That's how the top 10 U. S. construction companies list looks like (the number in brackets means the rating position in 2002):
